The Big Day Out

Last weekend Rob and I flew up to Auckland for the 'Big Day Out'. People fly here like you would catch a train back home, its relatively cheap, punctual, no used needles in the toilets and you get a free cup of coffee and a very tasty cookie!!!!! Your chances of surviving the journey are also considerably higher than trying to drive!!!!! Although the roads here are relatively quiet we have one of the worst road tolls per capita in the world, drink driving, speeding and no Central Reservation being the major problems!!!!! The roads are far more scenic than the M23 and you can become easily distracted by those snow capped mountains!!!!!!

Santa had bought Rob tickets to the Big Day Out which is the Antipodean version of the Reading Festival and of course I had to accompany him for fear he may get crushed in the nasty heaving mass of smelly bodies that is the mosh pit!!!!! It drew a crowd of 45000 to the Mount Smart Stadium, which I pointed out is actually over 1% of the population of NZ!!!!! We listened to the dulcet tones of Trivium, My Chemical Romance, The Killers, Muse and Tool as well as a few Aussie and Kiwi Bands and had a thoroughly nice time. We even woke up with a clear head the next day, if a little hoarse with a slight ringing in our ears, as we did not manage to get anywhere near the beer tent!!!!!http://www.bigdayout.com/
